Bellingham Unity Committee organizes events, celebrations, and programs in Whatcom County that commemorate and honor Black History and the rich legacy of African American culture to build a more equitable & inclusive community.

Celebration is Our Spirit

Our annual and individual events, including the Juneteenth celebrations, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Balls, and the 2020 Peaceful Solidarity Rally, among others, provide opportunities for community education, connection, and the celebration of history, family, music, and the movements that have inspired us. Celebration is our spirit and it goes into each and every event that we organize.

Community is Our Heart

At the heart of all our work is a commitment to community development. Without community, the Bellingham Unity Committee wouldn’t exist, and it is for this reason that we are dedicated to building an inclusive local society that respects differences and allows true authentic relationships to take root and flourish. We have proudly partnered with community organizations such as Busy Bee Barbershop, Distinctive Voice Consulting, FICA Bellingham Capoeira, the League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County, Multicultural International Development Company, PFLAG of Bellingham/Whatcom County, Planned Parenthood, Rumba Northwest, the Shakedown, SURJ, Whatcom County DSA, Whatcom Diversity Academy, Whatcom Human Rights Task ForceWWU African Caribbean Club, and the WWU Black Student Union, among others.
